Ministry of Agriculture Key Laboratory of Urban Agriculture (South)

In 2008, the Ministry of Agriculture Key Laboratory of Urban Agriculture (South) was established. In 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture reconfigured and selected several key laboratories. Shanghai Jiaotong University continued to undertake the task of laboratory construction and changed its name as the Ministry of Agriculture Key Laboratory of Urban Agriculture (South). Centering on the major theory and technical practice for urban modern agriculture and new rural construction in the south of China, this lab implements studies on technical innovation and technology integration & demonstration and serves as the first public platform that opens to the home and abroad and specializes in the applied basic research and technological R&D of urban modern agriculture.

Shanghai Engineering Research Center for Food Safety

Centering around the strategy needs for national food industry development and guided by the application, Shanghai Engineering Research Center for Food Safety actively undertakes national and local scientific research projects, strengthen the food safety risk assessment and early warning detection capabilities, put up the R&D and service platform for generic technologies, provides an important technical support for the establishment of food safety guarantee system in our country and becomes an important base for food safety research theory innovation, engineering technology innovation and personnel training in Shanghai, Yangtze River Delta Region and even the whole country. 

Sino-US Joint Research Center for Food Safety under the Ministry of Science and Technology

Unveiled and established at Shanghai Jiaotong University on May 12, 2008, Sino-US Joint Research Center for Food Safety under the Ministry of Science and Technology is jointly established between our university and Eastern Research Center of the US Ministry of Agriculture and Purdue University, on the basis of the important contents regarding cooperative research on food safety under the Framework of Sino-US Agricultural Scientific and Technological Cooperation. It aims to center on the common food safety issues faced by China and the U.S during the food production and trade, carry out cooperative research and personnel training related to food safety and apply research findings to the improvements of food production and processing technology, so as to ensure food safety and nutrition. 

National Positioning Observation Station of Shanghai Urban Forest Ecological System under the State Forestry Administration

National Positioning Observation Station of Shanghai Urban Forest Ecological System under the State Forestry Administration (abbreviated as Shanghai Urban Forest Ecological Station) is one of observation stations subordinated to CFERN. With its construction of station approved by the State Forestry Administration in 2013, the comprehensive experiment building of Shanghai Urban Forest Ecological Station is located at Pudong with observation stations distributing at the downtown area, outer ring forest belt and Chongming. These observation stations are mainly used to carry out the forest hydrology, soil, atmosphere and biological observation, regularly submit observation data to CFERN and carry out urban forest research, technology promotion and advisory and popularization of scientific knowledge.
